What is the best type of laptop out for sale?

I am heading off to college soon and I am going to need some sort of laptop. I need one with a decent amount of memory, microsoft office already installed, and can hold the internet pretty well. I’d prefer not to have one that is too big or too small, just a decent size. I also don’t want to pay too much for one, so I don’t want one of these high-dollar super computers made for all types of things. IF I want anything special on it, I wold like it to hold my itunes and photoshop programs. Also, I do not want an Acer. Several of my house computer/laptops were acers and all of them have met a “terrible fate.” Any suggestions?

If you are style conscious – mid-range SONY VAIOs will do fine. You can also have a look at the latest range of samsung laptops as the only laptop that has lasted more than 2 years with me in the last 10 years has been samsung).

I would strongly recommend DELL, you can visit the local DELL shop or online store (on dell’s website) and get a good deal from there. (Dell laptops to look for – Inspiron or Studio).

And if you have deep pockets, just go for Apple. Style and performance but at a cost.

Things to keep in mind -

Processor – your tasks are minimal, hence core i3 (or older core2duo) will do fine. But recommended will be at-least i5
Ram – most of the laptops these days carry 3gb or 4gb ram
Graphics – Since your use is going to mostly outdoor use (college), I would recommend going in for laptop that can switch between on-board intel graphics and integrated graphics to save power. I am not sure how these work but I have read several reviews on Tech2.com
